For this blog, Eugene Bernshtam gives everyone a quick review of the four types of car restoration based on the purpose of restoring.

Driving: Car restoration for driving purposes can be considered the most basic of restoration levels as it only seeks to make the car functional and operational. Parts are replaced to make the car road-worthy. A bit of a cosmetic upgrade is also performed.

Street show: Street show restoration takes driving restoration up another level. Aside from making the car road-worthy, sweeping changes are made to the appearance. On the 100-point universal system for restoring a classic car, street show cars have a rating of 80 points.

Show car: Above street show restoration, there’s show car restoration. This type of restoration fully brings a car back to how it used to be or at least extremely close to it, Eugene Bernshtam explains.

Concours restoration: For the serious car enthusiast, there’s the concours restoration. Concours restoration goes beyond bringing the car back to its former glory. Making the car road-worthy, beautiful, shiny, and adding heavy interior work are all included. Eugene Bernshtam explains that this type of restoration is always more expensive than the car itself.

Real estate developer Eugene Bernshtam is into car collection and restoration. He is among the Illinois Secretary of State's licensed auto dealers and currently holds membership in both the Ferrari Club of America (FCA) and the Lamborghini Club of America. More on Eugene’s work and interests here.
